Morogoro Region – The celebration of the World AIDS day in 2023 is carried by the slogan “Society should increase the eradication of AIDS” where the peak of the World AIDS celebration for this year nationally took place in Morogoro Region.
In the region, it has exceeded the goals of ninety-five three (95, 95, 95) until September 2023. is 98.8%, the second Ninety-five: (those who use drugs among people diagnosed with HIV is 95%) and the third Ninety-five (shows that among people living with HIV who use ARV drugs they have recovered from HIV is 95.8 percent).
Efforts used to reduce new infections of the disease include counseling and voluntary testing, care and treatment for people living with HIV (HIV).
The celebration coincided with the 16-day campaign against sexual violence and this year’s message says Invest to prevent sexual violence.
AIDS was discovered in Kilosa District in 1998 which is 35 years ago since the first patient was found in Kilosa District Hospital. So far a total of 71,979 people are living with HIV in Morogoro Region.
